To start the year, Niels and his team chose the CSI5*-W in Basel where Jenson van 't Meulenhof (Vagabond de la Pomme) went off to a good start with a clear round and a 8th place in the 1m50 on the opening day. Kadaffi van Orti (Diamant de Semilly) also noted a clear round in the 1m45 class, resulting in a 15th place.
On Friday, the Grand Prix was scheduled. In this difficult class, 14 combinations managed to qualify for the jump-off, including Niels with Delux van T&L (Toulon). It promised to be an exciting jump-off, since Niels already won this Grand Prix once in 2017, then with Gancia de Muze! As 11th combination in the jump-off, Niels rode a spectacular round in 36.81 seconds, until then the fastest time... In the end, no other combinations managed to finish faster and that's how Niels can add the Longines Grand Prix of Basel to his impressive list of honors, after already winning the BMW Masters last month at jumping Mechelen with Delux van T&L!
But the good results did not stop there ... On Sunday, Kadaffi van Orti closed the show with a fifth place in the 1m45 class. We look forward to the rest of the year!
