Finally back in the game!

We had to wait a few weeks and even months, but since two weeks we can, and especially are allowed, to return back to the competitions. A relief for both the riders and the horses, who did not know what happened to them in recent days. They went from traveling from one show to another to suddenly nothing anymore.

Niels mainly used the period to spend some time with his family and to put some extra energy into the younger horses. But he too is and remains a top athlete and was therefore also happy to travel to St. Tropez with a few horses the past two weeks.

During the first week Niels took his time to let the horses get back into the rhythm. Kopernic Van Orti, Gancia de Muze, Delux Van T&L, Diornella-D and Luca Van 't Eigenlo all jumped good rounds, but ran into a timepenalty here and there. Only with Kopernic Van Orti there was a classification when they finished 7th in a 1.45m class.

Last week, in the French seaside resort they jumped again at five-star level and Niels delivered superb performances in the closing Grand Prix’s. In that of the CSI2* competition he appeared at the start with Luca Van 't Eigenlo and he managed to qualify for the jump-off together with 16 others. After another clear round he claimed a 7th place.

But the best performance came from Delux Van T&L in the CSI5* GP. In a jump-off for which 9 combinations qualified, Niels remained clear again after a very consistent jump-off, but unfortunately he stranded just next to a podium place. A fourth place in the first CSI5* Grand Prix after corona, it makes us long for more...
