Jenson impresses in Aachen

The CHIO in Aachen is an annual highlight on the agenda of many riders. It is no different for Niels. This year he chose Libelle vd Heffinck, Ilusionata van 't Meulenhof, Utamaro d’Ecaussines and Jenson van ‘t Meulenhof to take a shot.

Libelle made an impressive debut, with a clear round in the class for young horses. Also on the second day she noted an impressive clear round, resulting in a 7th place!

Later, it was Utamaro d’Ecaussines who appeared at the start in the Nations Cup of Aachen. After a strong clear round by both Niels and Gregory Wathelet, supplemented with 4 penalty points by Jérôme Guery, the Belgian team took the lead. Unfortunately it seemed that Utamaro had slightly sprained itself, so Niels to withdraw in the second round. All the pressure now went down to Gudrun Patteet, Gregory Wathelet and Jérôme Guery. Gudrun did what was expected of her and jumped a beautiful clear round, but saw fate strike ... The blood rule caused her elimination, making it over and out for Team Belgium, resulting in a seventh place.

Fortunately there was Jenson van 't Meulenhof who excelled unseen on the Aachen grass arena. In the North Rhine-Westphalian Prize the mighty stallion jumped two clear rounds, good for a 5th place. That also earned him a qualification for the CSIO5* Grand Prix over a height of no less than 1m70! The stallion jumped again with brio, but unfortunately the last two obstacles stood in the way of another clear round.

For Ilusionata van 't Meulenhof there was also an 8th place in the 1m55 on Saturday.
