Great weekend in London

A few days after his return from Tokyo, it was back to business for Niels. Last weekend he traveled to the British capital London, where the ninth leg of the Longines Global Chamions Tour was on the program. This time, hee counted on Ilusionata Van ’t Meulenhof and Gancia de Muze and both mares jumped to great performances!

During the opening day on Friday, he started Gancia de Muze during the 1.45m opening class to ‘warm up’ a bit. Gancia jumped a clear round and Niels decided to save her for the rest of the show and to let the 2nd phase pass by. During the first round of the Global Champions League later in the day, he counted on Ilusionata Van 't Meulenhof. This time another strong round followed, although a pole fell out of the cups along the way.

On Saturday afternoon there was a 19th place for Gancia de Muze in the second and decisive round of the Global Champions League, which meant that Niels again qualified for the famous LGCT Grand Prix. Niels switched horses for the Grand Prix and competed with Ilusionata Van 't Meulenhof. A choice that worked out well, because after a clear round Niels and Ilusionata were one of the 6 combinations that managed to qualify for the jump-off. In that jump-off, they entered the ring again as the fourth starter. They again held a clear round and their finish time of 39.44 seconds earned them a nice 3rd place.

On Sunday during the final day he brought Gancia de Muze to the start in the 1.50m main class and this was also successful. In a 9-strong jump-off, Niels and Gancia made a fault on the first fence of the double combination and ended up 6th.
